WEG launches new explosion proof motor at ADIPEC 2024

WEG, a leading global manufacturer of electric motors, drives and automation technologies, will exhibit at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2024. The event will take place from 4-7 November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). Visitors can find WEG in Hall 11, Stand 11420.

WEG will be launching the newly developed W51Xdb motor at the show. The W51Xdb builds on the success of the W22XD series of motors and offers the highest power density in its class, delivering up to 800 kilowatts (kW) but in a smaller, lighter frame.

The W51Xdb is available in IE3 and IE4 energy efficiency ratings and is suitable for hazardous or potentially explosive environments, making it ideal for applications in the petrochemical, energy and oil and gas industries. This motor offers a sustainable and efficient solution, aligning with the drive towards energy efficiency.

“The W51Xdb has been manufactured at the new WEG Santo Tirso Industrial Park in Portugal, which is central to WEG’s commitment to investing in advanced motor engineering for the oil, gas, and energy sectors” explained Marek Lukaszczyk, marketing manager for Europe and the Middle East at WEG. “With this state-of-the-art facility dedicated to producing new high-performance motors, plus our many years of experience in the oil, gas and energy sectors, we are equipped to meet the evolving demands of these industries, while also supporting our customers’ goals for greater efficiency and sustainability.”

WEG will also be showcasing its W23 Sync+ Ultra motor, a new motor that reaches the anticipated IE6 efficiency levels. This motor combines permanent magnet (PM), ferrite or neodymium magnets, and synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motor technologies to deliver exceptional efficiency across all speeds, with minimal losses even under varying conditions.

Also on display will be the W22 IE4 motor, offering increased efficiency and energy savings, along with a range of additional hazardous area motors and a water-cooled motor for marine applications. Other demos include a range of geared motors, a variety of VFD solutions and the WEG Motion Fleet Management system, which provides advanced monitoring for predictive maintenance.

In addition, visitors can learn more about WEGSEE+ — a comprehensive software solution that enables users to measure potential energy savings, calculate return on investment, and assess greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction potential. WEGSEE+ simplifies energy efficiency project analysis, helping companies make strategic, sustainable decisions to optimise resource usage.

Attendees at ADIPEC will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of WEG’s solutions tailored to the needs of the oil and gas industry. From motor and drive technology to advanced automation, WEG will be on hand to discuss how its products can enhance the performance, efficiency and reliability of industrial operations.
