Prestigious dinner set to return with eminent speaker line up

A prestigious line up of industry speakers has been confirmed for the flagship annual dinner of the Energy Institute (EI) Aberdeen, Highlands and Islands branch in May.

The much-anticipated event is one of the highlights of the local branch calendar and it will take place at Aberdeen’s Macdonald Norwood Hall Hotel on Thursday, May 15th. The evening has a long-established reputation for attracting a sizeable audience to hear from high-profile presenters from energy and associated industries.

This year, they will include Andy Brown OBE FEI, President of the Energy Institute and Deputy Chair of Ørsted. Cambridge graduate Andy enjoyed a 35-year international career with Royal Dutch Shell in seven countries, latterly serving on the executive committee leading the world’s largest integrated gas business as upstream director for integrating the acquisition of BG into the company. Later, he held the role of CEO of Portuguese energy company Galp where he focused on transforming the organization to thrive through the energy transition and he joined the board of Ørsted as a non-executive director in 2023 before being elected deputy chair in 2024.

The evening will also feature an address from Dr Charlotte Adams, CEO of The National Geothermal Centre. With a career in the sector for over 20 years, Charlotte was instrumental in the delivery of the UK’s largest geothermal heat scheme at Gateshead. Her interest in geothermal was sparked during her PhD studies, and Charlotte’s subsequent work in consultancy, academia and the public sector has won her awards from the likes of Geological Society, and the Energy Institute.

She will be joined by Pete Tipler, Founder and CEO of Wynteg, a service company which is focused on “working with clients to accelerate the deployment of game-changing energy and climate technology that benefits people and planet.”  Also addressing delegates during a packed evening will be, plus local EI chair and COO of the Net Zero Technology Centre, Rebecca Allison.

Commenting on plans for the dinner, Rebecca said: “The dinner is undoubtedly the highlight of the branch calendar, and we look forward to continuing its long-standing reputation for attracting a large audience and providing some great networking opportunities.

“We are delighted to have secured another excellent line-up of eminent speakers who will raise awareness of all aspects of the energy landscape and contribute to what promises to be an interesting and informative evening.”
