P&A market leader announces key appointments to drive market exploration
A market leading P&A company has announced two key appointments as part of its exploration of new global markets.
Erlend Engelsgjerd, who has worked with HydraWell since April 2012, has been named as the company’s new Chief Commercial Officer and Marcelo Jaculli has taken on the role of Technology Development Lead.
Prior to joining HydraWell, Erlend graduated with a degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Bergen then gained considerable expertise in operations and as a project engineer. His professional experience also includes the development and field trial of multilateral liner hanger and liner drilling systems, and the development, testing and execution of Hydrawell’s advanced Perf, Wash and Cement PWC® systems.
Marcelo holds a degree in mechanical engineering plus MSc and PhD in petroleum engineering from the University of Campinas, Brazil. He moved to Norway in 2023 as a postdoctoral researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and has dedicated his career to well engineering research, focusing on well integrity, and plugging and abandonment.
At the heart of HydraWell’s success is an unwavering commitment to innovation. Since its inception, the company has positioned itself at the forefront of global well integrity solutions, consistently delivering advanced technologies that meet the evolving needs of the industry. Headquartered in Norway, the company also operates bases in the UK (Aberdeen), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Brazil and Australia.
The most recent addition to the product suite is the industry first PWC® system for rigless abandonment, HydraCT™ which takes advantage of the incorporated jet-propulsed during the cleaning and cementing of the casing.
Commenting on his new role, Erlend said: “I look forward to continuing the excellent work of my predecessors and to helping grow HydraWell into new areas, as well as maintaining and increasing our global market share with our PWC® technology as the portfolio centrepiece.
“We see an overall increased activity towards abandonments, and the cost associated with decommissioning mean we must get it right first time. Our success rate places us at the heart of project planning, and I look forward to playing a part in expanding HydraWell’s horizons by pushing boundaries and innovating.”
Marcelo Jaculli added: “It is an exciting time to join the HydraWell team and I look forward to using my academic background to address industry challenges in a way that achieves sustainable growth from solutions developed in partnership with our customer base.”
