Sulzer has announced the opening of its purpose-built Lausitz Service Center, which offers technically advanced repair and upgrade capabilities for all types of rotating equipment. With a focus on the needs of the power generation, petrochemical, paper and water sectors, the new facility will help operators improve equipment reliability and productivity. This consolidation of the company's Jaenschwalde and Schwarze Pumpe Service Centers offers enhanced coverage from a centralized location for businesses in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.

Uwe Kirstein, Head of Services, North/East region at Sulzer, said: "This new facility is in the industrial park of Schwarze Pumpe, close to the city of Spremberg, is a statement to our customers: Sulzer is investing in the region to further expand the comprehensive service it offers for the critical equipment used in throughout industry.

"The site is a central point for customers to access Sulzer's world-class rotating equipment services. The Lausitz Service Center combines the renowned engineering talent of our previous service centres and adds new capabilities, ensuring that local industry can quickly and easily benefit from all of our expertise. The facility is purpose-built to meet Sulzer's newest LEAN and Environment, Safety and Health (ESH) standards. A single location means a single point of contact, which simplifies and expedites customer projects."

As a global pump original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and independent service provider (ISP) for any type or brand of rotating equipment, Sulzer operates a worldwide network of service centres. With its 'one-stop-shop' philosophy, the Lausitz Service Center offers repairs and upgrades for complete trains of pumps, gearboxes, compressors, turbines, blowers and more. It also hosts one of Sulzer's mechanical seal repair shops.

Repairs, retrofits and reverse engineering are supported by a parts manufacturing capability. A wide selection of machine tools means that large casings, shafts and a wide range of other new mechanical parts can be produced in-house, shortening lead times and reducing costs for customers. Beyond in-house capabilities, a highly responsive team of dedicated field service engineers is available to rapidly respond to any customer on-site requirement.

The service centre has many other specialties aimed at providing targeted equipment services for the paper industry, supporting refineries as well as power stations and maintaining critical pumps used for dewatering and flood alleviation. New insulation in the building will also greatly reduce the overall energy consumption and carbon footprint at the site.

Uwe concludes: "The new service centre is already fully operational and we are excited to see our customers benefiting from our enhanced capabilities. We look forward to helping more companies in the region optimize their equipment and processes."
