Multi-disciplined engineering firm JBS Group is executing a significant portfolio of contracts valued at more than £7m for the second half of this year. The Peterhead-based company has successfully embarked on or completed a range of projects, both domestically and globally, over Q3 and Q4 this year.

This puts award-winning JBS on track to achieve turnover of £11.5m for its year-end in April, 2024 – a projected rise of nearly 40% on the previous year’s figure of £8.3m. Key projects include collaborations with global engineering contractors, providing support through the manufacture of screw conveyors and other various solutions.

JBS has also supported replacement part programmes and the implementation of its proprietary dual-drive screw conveyor systems. The firm's expertise in dual-drive screw conveyors has been deployed by energy service companies in the UK, Europe, Brazil, South-East Asia, the Middle East and the USA.

Among the company’s high-profile achievements is the provision of a complete Sea Axe Controlled Flow Excavation (CFE) system for a major pipeline burial project in Australia, under a one-year contract which is likely to be extended due to additional requirements.

The business is experiencing increased demand for the patented Sea Axe technology, known for its rapid subsea excavation capabilities. Sea Axe stands out in the market for its environmental friendliness and compact design, which reduces deck space requirements. Its safe deployment from a vessel’s A-frame or crane is an additional advantage.

The technology's application in the 475-mile HVDC interconnector between Denmark and the UK, the world's longest, is a testament to its efficacy. Another contract award is with an international subsea business that is utilising Sea Axe on a decommissioning project in the North Sea.

Furthermore, JBS has secured agreements with various companies in the energy and space sectors for its unique blast containment products. These products, featuring patented fabrics, offer protection against ballistic, blast, fire and arc flash hazards.

Clients in the UK, West Africa, Asia, Australia and the United States are the primary beneficiaries of these recent contracts, which also encompass high-pressure testing solutions for blast protection both on and offshore. These include agreements with international engineering firms and global operators. In addition, JBS has also secured five blast containment projects with an unnamed country’s navy.

JBS's fabrication capabilities have also seen an uptick in demand, resulting in numerous contracts with international energy service firms. This work spans reel modifications, on-site fabrication support and other specialised services. In addition, JBS has completed significant fabrication work for a Scottish biogas project.

Jo McIntosh, Sales and Marketing Director at JBS Group, said: “The past six months have been our most successful period to date. Our ability to consistently win repeat and new business across various markets is a testament to our team’s dedication and our commitment to innovative, problem-solving solutions.

“We enter 2024 with a high degree of confidence and a commitment to meeting our clients' evolving needs.”

Over 60% of JBS Group's sales are international, a significant factor in its success in the Going Global category at the 2023 Northern Star Business Awards, organised by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce.

The strategic acquisition of Screw Conveyors Ltd six years ago has enriched JBS with a 20-year database of technical information and equipment. Additionally, JBS's status as an authorised distributor for Martin Sprocket and a stockist for Nord Drive Systems further enhances its market position in this sector.

Operating with a dedicated team of 60, JBS is headquartered at South View, Dales Industrial Estate, Peterhead.
