BlueFloat Energy select Global Maritime event simulation software

BlueFloat Energy has selected Global Maritime's OPSIM software in order to simulate construction, operation and decommissioning activities for their offshore wind projects. The ability to simulate various complex scenarios will allow BlueFloat Energy to optimise their projects delivery strategies and better control associated risks.

BlueFloat Energy has selected Global Maritime's OPSIM software in order to be able to simulate their offshore wind projects for evaluation of risk and comparison of different operational strategies during the development and execution phases of their offshore wind projects.

Headquartered in Spain, BlueFloat Energy is a fast-growing developer with a global portfolio of 32.4 GW of both fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind projects.

Developed in-house, over the last 10+ years, GM OPSIM is a strategic operational planning tool that uses discrete event simulation techniques for tailored project analysis.

Whilst OPSIM has been supporting the energy sector and fixed bottom wind development over the last decade, floating wind has seen a new wave of demand and OPSIM is addressing many of the challenges currently being encountered in this sector, by facilitating the evaluation of detailed and reliable Transport & Installation scenarios, complementing port/infrastructure assessment studies and allowing a better understanding of weather uptime/downtime and therefore, cost estimates, project schedules and the provisioning of mitigating measures.

"OPSIM's versatility has been a driving force behind its success. All development is client-driven or through internal use of OPSIM by our engineers and specialists". Matthew Bernstein, Senior Software Engineering at Global Maritime and creator of OPSIM.

"Having trialled OPSIM, we have been very pleased with the results and the flexibility of the software." Benoit Dromard T&I Lead, BlueFloat Energy. "Identifying and mitigating potential risks early on in the project phase is key and OPSIM can be a useful tool in this analysis."

In addition to OPSIM, GM have access to a portfolio of advanced in-house engineering software solutions, including HYDROGM which is developed specifically for hydrostatic and stability analysis of floating structures, and GMoor, a specialist frequency-domain software for mooring analysis, and which will shortly be available in a version tailored specifically to the assessment of floating wind moorings.
